Family and Community Support

  • Food and Water Drives- provide food and water to homeless/community food banks

  • Walkathons- ideal for our IDD community. Idea is to raise money by walking. Contact Phoenix Bird or Metro Civitan Club

  • Adopt a Christmas Family- identify families in need through a church or other organization. Provide gifts to the family. Contact Metro or Village Civitan C;lubs

  • Shop with a Cop- Partner with several restaurants to donate part of the meal bill to donate funds for Christmas gifts for needy. With the funds raised Shop with A Cop- Contact the Civitans of Idaho Falls

  • Muscles on Main- muscle/hot rod car show hosted by Route 78 Civitan Club

  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace- Sponsor a Build bed drive- partner with Sleep in Heavenly Peace -www.shpbeds.org- Contact the Civitans of Idaho Falls

  • Socks for Seniors, Lap Blankets and Scarves - Bannock Civitan Club

  • Socks and Undies for Foster Children- Roadrunner Club, Tucson, AZ

  • Receiving Blankets and Burp Cloths for Pregnancy Center- Knit, sew or purchase to donate blankets and burp cloths. Conatct Bannock Civitans

  • Salvation Army Bell Ringing- contact your local Salvation Army- great Civitan Awareness. Contact Village and Metro Civitan Clubs

  • Clergy Week- February- honor a pastor/minister in your Clubs area- see www.Civitan.org under the Club Project Resource tab

  • Servants Heart Award- honor a person who supports individuals with IDD- International Project- www.civitan.org

  • Valentine Cards for the Assisted Living Homes- great project for our IDD clubs- contacts Friends Civitan Club- Pocatello, ID

  • Weekly Volunteer at Food Banks and/or Soup Kitchens- wear Civitan T -shirts/aprons- Civitan Awareness and great way to meet like minded individuals

  • Coat Drive- great late fall early winter project. Collect coats for shelters. Contact Village and Bannock Clubs

  • Bowling for Santa- host a bowling tournament were bowlers bring a Christmas Gift as “an entry” to bowl. Contact the Bannock Civitans

  • Linus Blankets- Provide handmade blankets to children in need. Work through Project Linus www.projectlinus.org Roadrunner Club Tucson, AZ

  • Collect Pull Pop Tops for Ronald McDonald House- Project done by The Phil Schlesinger Club in Tucson, AZ

  • Clothing Drive- Collect clothing for all ages. The Roadrunner Club, Tucson, AZ collects for Casa Alitas in Tucson

  • Decorate Brown Paper Grocery Bags- Done by the Roadrunner Club in Tucson for a HIV/AIDS network for Valentine’s Day

  • Homeless Personal Care Project- done by The Phil Schlesinger Club. The club collects old prescription bottles then fill them with daily supplies for shampoo, lotion and other items.


Education & Employment

  • Employer Awareness Program- honor employers who hire people with IDD. Contact the Pasadena Club for ideas/details

  • School Supply Drive- help restock classrooms mid-year. Put kits together for kids www.civitan.org under Club Project Resources. The Phil Schlesinger Club Tucson, AZ


Health & Wellness

  • Red Cross Blood Drive- have the club host a blood drive.

  • Face Mask Project- make face masks for clinics, assisted living or facilities see www.civitan.org under Club Project Resources

  • Suicide Prevention Month- September is suicide prevention month. Invite a speaker to a club meeting or event. Bannock Civitans work this project.


Accessible & Inclusive Communities

  • Trunk or Treat- Halloween project- Civitan Awareness. Contact Village Civitan Club

  • Community Dances for People with IDD- contact The Old Pueblo and Route 78 Clubs for details.

  • Camp Civitan- Arizona Clubs- volunteer a weekend to clean up and get the camp ready for summer camp. Contact Village Civitan Club

  • Camp Taylor- Bannock Club - volunteer clean up and getting the camp ready for summer.

  • Holiday Dinner for People with IDD- host a dinner at Thanksgiving or Christmas/Holiday seasons

  • Servants Heart Award- honor someone who supports people with intellectual developmental disabilities see www.civitan.org under Club Project Resources

  • Wheel Chair Ramp Building- Build wheel chairs to allow access . Contact the Civitans of Idaho Falls and Bannock Civitans

  • Monthly Dance for People with Special Needs- Several Clubs hold dances. The Old Pueblo, Tucson, AZ


Fundraisers

  • Shoe Drive- great fundraiser for our IDD community. Idea is to collect 2500 pairs of shoes over a 60 days period- raise about $1200. Great area project. Contact the Village Civitan Club

  • Walk a Mile in Her Shoes- men walk a mile in women’s shoes. A great fundraiser and a lot of laughs. Contact Idaho Falls Civitan Club

  • Football Books- think Super Bowl Board for every Monday and Thursday NFL football game. Fundraiser put on by Metro Civitan Club. Open to all clubs to use as easy fundraiser.

  • Golf Tournaments- several clubs host golf tournaments.

  • Muscle Car/Hot Rod Event- an event to showcase cars- contact Route 78

  • Spaghetti Dinner- good fundraiser for our IDD clubs. Contact Metro or Phoenix Bird Clubs

  • Indoor Putt- Putt Golf Tournament- great fundraiser. Currently ran by both the Bannock and Idaho Falls Civitan as a “pub crawl” Putt-Putt golf. Can be adapted to other formats. Contact Bannock or Idaho Falls

  • Ice Fishing Tournaments- hosted by Butte County. Unless you are in cold country-Hard to duplicate- but it looks like a lot of Fun! Contact the Butte County Civitans.

  • Alive After 5 and Revive After 5- The best fundraisers in the HOTW.

    • Host an outdoor “Happy Hour(s)” during the summer months(AZ maybe fall or spring months!). Party in the park complete with music/band, food trucks and adult beverages! Typically, run the event for approximately 12-15 weeks. Contact Bannock Civitans and Idaho Falls Civitans.
